Bright sun shining days

Hola familia y amigos en casa! Me and Elder Ruiz had a really amazing week this week. During the week, before Saturday, we were working really hard to get several investigators and recent converts ready to go to the temple and organizing our baptisms on Sunday. On Wednesday we had the opportunity to give 3 different blessings to investigators and members who were sick.  Saturday was our ward temple trip and we had 2 of our converts who went with us and did baptisms for the first time and they loved it. We also had 2 investigators who came and walked the grounds and by the end of the trip they wanted to come back and the next time go inside. They are willing and want to get baptized but the only problem is waiting a little for them to get married. It was wonderful to get back into the temple and better when we saw converts enter and have that kind of spiritual experience.  Sunday we had the baptisms of our 2 investigators, Angel and his daughter Angie. The services star...

grey skies, bright future

Saludos a todos en casa! This last week we've had quite a few things going on. First crazy thing is the weather. The cold came early this year and this whole last week it's been grey skies and in the 40s. It is supposed to be like this all week this week as well. I heard a member say it was supposed to snow tomorrow, but I highly doubt it. I'm loving the cool weather though.  Me and Elder Ruiz are really happy here in our area as we have many people progressing. We will be having 2 baptisms this coming Sunday and 1 more the next week. On Sunday we had 5 investigators in church. This Saturday our ward is going to the temple and we are going to go with a few of our converts who are going for the first time. So we are super happy for everything going down in our area.  I wish I could say the same for the rest of the zone. We have several areas that are struggling right now to find new investigators and get them to church. We also had an Elder get sent home today and hi...

wedding and baptism

Oct. 16th - Pday was today because of Zone Con. yesterday.   Well this last week we finally got Jaqueline married. We had so much opposition trying to get to this point and after 2 months we finally got everything figured out and on Friday we had the wedding. We were all so happy for her and you could just feel the family atmosphere and the unity. We had her baptism before the church services started on Sunday and she was confirmed during the meeting.  We had a pretty serious temperature change yesterday. When we woke up it was in the 60s and by 3:00 we were down into the mid 40s. The majority of the Latinos were shiverinf really badly while the Americans from the north were all thinking like we were back home haha. The cold came really early this year and today we are still low.  Well I hope everyone has a really great week and that everyone is survivng the start of the cold.  Elder Hoyt Jaqueline and Derek's wedding. (their little girl Riana i...

Conference and Paperwork

Hola everyone! This week was a really awesome one. Of course one of the best parts of the week was the opportunity to watch General Conference. Saturday morning was pretty crazy with the anouncement of he new church times and the program for teaching at home. I believe it will be a blessing for those who really take advantage of it. There were several talks that I really enjoyed including the ones given by Elder Bednar, Elder Holland, Elder Ballard, andPresident Eyring. There were at least 3 speakers who talked about taking upon us the name of Christ and while listening to the conference it has made me reflect on how I can center my life even more on Christ and his teachings. As a missionary we all literally are wearing his name every day and are his oficial representatives, but even as missionaries there are moments that we need to be reminded. Ending conference I have left with a desire to focus more on being more like the Savior and in everything I do and say, have Christ be at the ...

Cambios

Hello family and friends! This last week was a pretty busy one.  This last week we have been working a lot with several investigators who we are teaching right now. We have an investigator named Jackelin who has been progressing for a little bit now. She came to church for the 3rd time on Sunday and right now the only thing that she needs to do so dhe can be baptized is get married. We've been helping her and her boyfriend get all the papers done and if everything goes well we should be able to get her married and baptized by the 13th of October. Lots of running back and forth to the Registro Civil.  Another investigator we have named Eva. She is an older woman who lives close to our Bishop. She has recieved the discussions before and a while ago stopped listening because the missionaries invited her to baptism too fast. But several weeks ago she talked with Bishop Sanchez and said she wanted to go to church and recieve the lessons again and be baptized in a little while. She...

September is almost over

9/24  Hola familia y amigos! Well, we are coming to the end of September already. CRAZY! The time is literally disapearing. It is just starting to hit me how little time I really have left. We are entering October next week and I go back in March. I 've gotten this extra fire, it seems, to keep working and give it my all right up until the end.  With the end of the month is coming a new transfer as well. I've been a Zone Leader for almost a month and a half already and it feels like it's only been a couple weeks. We'll see what happens on Sunday when they tell us what the changes are going to be. 4 transfers left. Out of the 17 I am down to 4.  This last week was fairly normal. A lot of work as usual and a lot of oposition coming in at the last minute with some of our investigators as usual. We have found several new people that seem very promising. A couple (Omar and Idalia) and a few other singles (Viridiana, Eva, and Guadalupe) We had a baptism in the zone, I did t...
