Recordings and Pics

Spike the dog followed us all around the city one day. Thanks for the awesome birthday package! Saw a peacock near one of our investigators houses. Some of the recording files were too big. This last week was pretty great. We had interviews with the mission president on thursday. Got to give a blessing on friday. And Sunday we had almost 40 people at church so that was actaually really cool. The heat has been insane still. My knees are sore from all the biking. But I love it! I love you all.  Love  Elder Hoyt From Recording: Elder Hoyt - May 25th "It's 10pm in Sabinas Hildago,Mexico, Today was a pretty good day.   We had to get up a little early today to catch a bus at 6:00am to get back to Monterrey for interviews.  While there we had some training, district meeting and we also organized a zone priesthood choir for a zone conference that we are having in a few weeks.  Once everyone found out that I could sing, they wanted me to do a solo in both of ...

Week 1 in Monterrey

Hola everyone! I am alive and well! This first week has been a crazy one. Monday was when we flew out from the MTC to Monterrey. President McArthur and his wife met us at the airport. They are so awesome! We drove to the Mission Home and had a little breakfast and one of the few trainings that we would be getting during the day. We had an interview with President McArthur, rested for an hour, had another few trainings and then got to go to bed. Tuesday we were assigned to our trainers. It was interesting because President McArthur actually didn´t assign companions until Monday night after our interviews. He had all of the new people lined up on one side of the drive way and the trainers on the other and he had the list of companionships in his hand. No one knew who would be paired with who. He read the names off and we were assigned. It was a pretty big event. My new companion and Trainer is Elder Peña. Our area: The city Sabinas Hidalgo. After being assigned we had a couple more t...

Day 2 - Meeting my Trainer

(Kim) - Thank goodness they post on the mission blog.  I still have to wait until Monday to find out where his first area will be, but at least I get to see who his trainer is.  Elder Pena.

1st day in Monterrey

I made it to Monterrey just fine. It is really hot haha. The mountain looks way bigger in person. My P day will be on Mondays so this will be the only email this week. I love you!  15 May 2017 Dear Brother and Sister Hoyt, What a pleasure it was to greet your son as he arrived in the México Monterrey West Mission!  Attached is a picture of your missionary with us on his first day here in the mission. This morning included an interview with the President and some instruction and training on the basics of living and working in the México Monterrey West Mission.  This afternoon your son will get to experience a couple of hours of missionary service in the field.  There is plenty of good food along with some activities that will make it a full and exciting day.  Tomorrow your son will meet his trainer and they will spend some time getting acquainted.  After a brief meeting with the President and lunch, all the missionaries will be off to their ...

The Churro that Changed the World!

MTC's Favorite District Hola hola hola! This is my last week here in the MTC! I'm super excited to get out into the field and start finding people! The MTC has been really amazing and I'm going to miss everyone.  Two days ago the MTC second councilor came over to our classroom with his wife and gave us churros! They were way better than any churro I've ever eaten in America. They were warm and had caramel on the inside with all the sugar you could possibly want coating the outside. They were soooo good!  Our district has it pretty good With the entire MTC presidency. Our classroom is right in between the offices. 1st councilor Lions and President Bennet are one side and then 2nd councilor Eves is on the other. They stop in all the time to say hi and talk wit...

1 month down, 23 to go

Hola everyone! Today marks one month of my mission completed. It's a little crazy how fast the time has gone by for me. Supposedly it goes even faster when we get out in the field. Only a week and a half until me, Elder Powers, and Elder Johansen leave for Monterrey. I'm excited to get out there and start finding people to teach!  The MTC has been amazing! I love our teachers, I love the food, and I love my district. The director of the MTC Elder Castaneda comes into our classroom every day and has us recite the scriptures that he gave us to memorize the day before and then gives us new scriptures to memorize. He is an area 70 too. Our teachers and the MTC President (President Bennet) say that we are the only district he has ever done that with and he says we're his favorite. It's super awesome!  Spanish gets easier and easier as the days go by. I had to give a talk last Sunday completely in Spanish so that was cool. I bore my testimony at the end without having...
