Rainy

Hey everyone. So this last week and a half has been rainy and cloudy grey every day pretty much. We had our zone conference this last week and I learned a lot of new stuff that I could start to apply. We had 4 investigators in church on Sunday which was a good thing. The work is moving along nicely with the help of the members. We have the recent convert, Raúl, who is a power house and has gotten us at least 4 good references this last week.  We had our district activity today. We went to the big park in the center of Monterrey called Parque Fundidores. Had a good time taking pictures, riding bikes and eating some pretty good food.  Doesn't seem like much of an email but we are pretty exhausted and we want some time to rest so we aren't going to be on here for too long. I love you all! Have a great week! Elder Hoyt Zone Conference  hogzilla Me and Rosales helping investigator fill bags of nuts so he can sell them members g...

1st week new area!

Got here to the new area. I am going to be walking for my time here. The funny thing is that this is the smallest area I've ever been in. We can walk from one end of the area to the other in 20 minutes. (walking at normal speed) It is all super flat here as well. No hills. We share a ward with the zone leaders. (Elder Smith and Elder Vanwagenen). The house we are in is also the smallest I've been in, but it has everything we need, including hot water so I'm happy.  It is kind of funny that me and Elder Hendricks are in the same district still. It is a new record that we will only be seeing each other once a week now haha. The area might be small but we have a ton of great support from the members. There is actually a recent convert who has gotten us more than 3 references this last week and they all ended up being new investigators.  I'm excited to be here and get goin. Elder Rosales (my new companion) is pretty cool. He is from Chiapas here in Mexico. Also wear...

Cambios!!!

Well this last week went very well for us. Me and Elder Salas ended our week with 84 invitations to baptism and our baptism went through smoothly on Saturday. She was confirmed yesterday. Saturday was pretty crazy actually. We had a baptism in the morning at the river for Elder Clegg and Elder Hendricks and then ours was at 7 at night in Montemorelos. On our way to Elder Clegg and Hendricks baptism Elder Salas fell off his bike haha. He is ok. Nothing happened. Just fell in a puddle.  All in all I think I'm leaving Allende on a good note. Yes that is right. We got changes. I am being sent to the zone Solidaridad in Monterrey. I've been here in Allende for basically 6 months so I guess it was time to move on. My new companion is Elder Rosales. He is from Mexico. Elder Hendricks is also going. And guess what! He is also going to the same zone of Solidaridadf! We are actually going to be in the same district again hahaha. My area is Solidaridad B and Elder Hendricks is going t...

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week! Elder Hoyt (Elder Hoyt says that time is going by so fast and that he can't believe that it has been a year alrea...

Easter, Conference, 1 year mark!

Happy Easter! Hola mi familia y todos mis amigos!  This week is a really eventful one for me down here in Mexico! We started off with General Conference! How crazy were those two anouncements! The first one was during the priesthood session. High Priests and Elders will now be combined into one Elders Quorum. It was a worldwide realease of callings haha. Thought about my dad was the Elders quorum President in our ward. I wanted to see his face when he found out the news. The second anouncement during the final session on Sunday was another big one regarding Home and Visiting teaching which will now be called Ministering. And then the addition of 7 new temples! Me, Elder Clegg and Elder Hendricks all chuckled a little about yet another temple in Utah and then the one in Russia is cool.  On wednesday I will have officially been out here in the mission field for 1 year!!!! Half way done! The time has gone by so fast! I have learned so much and have made quite a f...
