A Baptism for Christmas

Opening presents Christmas Day Hola familia y amigos en casa! What an awesome coulpe of weeks we've had here in San Nicolas. The best experience was the baptism we had on the 29th and the events that lead to it. The person that was baptized is named Martha. She is 19 years old and has a little 1 year old girl named Kenya. The week before last she got married to her boyfriend that was living with her, Kevin, who is already a member of the church. Their family had just moved here from a different state because of rediculous problems that were happening and they had to leave their house and most of their posessions and basically start over. Martha was listening to the missionaries before after her family got baptized but did'nt show much interest in the church and she wasn't to excited about marrying Kevin. After having to drop eveything and move to a new state and start over she told us that she was humbled and knew that now was the time to change. The missionaries before...

Dec. 17 - Changes

hey mom just so you know me and Elder Joachin are going to stay together for at least another change. I'll be here in San Nicolas until February 5th at least. As for the video call next week, I'll be planning to do the call at around 12 mid day on Christmas. Utah time. If anything changes I'll let you know on Thursday Thursday -  So our time changed for the call. Instead of at 12, we'll be calling at around 6 in the afternoon.    Elder Vega and Elder Covington return to the mission puppy Elder Vega Returns

Dec 11. - Hola

Hola a todos en casa! This last week was a pretty good one. Definitely can't complain. We  haven't been cold which is a good thing. We had 3 baptisms in the zone this last week and we are seeing a lot of progress as a mission as well. Don't have a lot of new things to write about this week and we are writing a little late so I don't have much time. This is our last week of this change and we are really starting ti feel the Christmas spirit down here in Monterrey. We found a little christmas tree in our house and some lights so we feel pretty good about that.  We are really close to getting a couple married so our investigator, Martha, can get baptized. We are keeping our spirits up and working hard.  Love you all! Have an amazing week! Got my package There are 2 sisters, 1 from the dominican republic and 1 from brazil that won't get christmas packages this year. Even if a package gets there late, they would really appreciate something. Their names are...

Dec. 3 - Sunshine and miracles

Hola familia y amigos en casa! This week as November came to an end and December started up, we are still getting lots of sun. We got up into the high 70s and low 80s a couple days. Today Monday started out pretty warm but later on got cloudy and started to rain a bit. Temperature is supposed to drop a bit this week. Sorry for all those back home who are getting snow and freezing. Although I'd prefer snow to the cold rain here in Monterrey.  Our missionaries here in the San Nicolás zone have been working really hard despite of a fewrule changes in the mission that were a little rough and we have had a ton of success and miracles. Ever since we started focusing a lot more on working with the members we have been recieving a lot more references and help in the work. Just this week alone as a zone we have doubled the amount of investigators that we have with baptismal dates. 20! to be exact. Right now as one of the smallest zones in the mission with only 14 missionaries we are...
