El Extra!!

Hello everyone back home. We had our Zone Conference this last week and we had a super spiritual experience. We talked a lot about having the faith necessary to complete our goals. We are continuing with our commitment to invite 80 people to baptism every week for every companionship. It is a really high goal and we have to put in extra effort to reach it. But we were promised that if we did it we would find people to baptize every week. We are pushing it hard.  Elder Hendricks had his new bike stolen earlier in the week. But Elder Clegg chased the guy down on his bike and got the bike back. The guy that stole got really scared when Clegg got close and jumped off the bike, started to run then tripped in a puddle and fell really hard haha.  Everything is going awesome. Super excited for General Conference this weekend. I love you all!  Elder Hoyt Me and Salas on the road to Allende Fresh oranges off the tree in Allende  There is a huge orch...

Here comes the sun!!!

Hola a todos! Well here we are starting to enter into the hot season down here in the Monterrey area. This last week we've been in the 90s and heading to the 100s. We have been working hard here as a zone and we have set some pretty awesome goals. Pres. McArthur said in his email to me this last week that we are setting a great example for the rest of the mission. One of our compromisos that we have as a zone is to invite 80 people to baptism every week per companionship. It is a really tough goal but it pushes us to work harder and it helps us find a lot more investigators. Elder Salas got sick Saturday night and was throwing up on Sunday but we still got out and worked a bit. We had one of our investigators come to church and this next week we are going to have even more. The sun has been killer these last few days. My watch tan line is getting even more aparent now.  Today we had a pretty awesome zone activity. We all got our bikes to Montemorelos and we went up to the big monu...

Caminos Nuevo Companero!!!

So I got my new companion on Tuesday! Elder Salas. He is from Costa Rica, wears glasses like me, and is a little shorter. He is super cool. He has a ton of energy and is pumped to get out and work. He has 5 months in the mission field. I am going to complete one year on the 4th of April and he completes 6 months the week after. We have a goal as a companionship for 4 baptisms this change and as a zone a goal of 35! We have the faith and energy that we need to get it done. The rest of the mission has caught the baptism fever as well and our goal as a mission is to have 180 baptisms this change! I have the feeling that this change is gonna be a really good one. We have General conference, my 1 year mark, my companions 6 month mark, and a bunch of work ahead of us! We are gonna be needing some extra prayers sent our way.  Les amo Mucho!!  Elder Hoyt

Los Cambios!!!

Hola todos!! We recieved the call yesterday about what our changes are gonna be. I'm staying here in Allende! My new companion is Elder Salas. I don`t know him but I am excited. Elder Peña is going with an Elder Perez from Chiapas. Elder Hendricks and Elder Clegg stay here in Allende as well. We have a new assistant and a new secratery in the offices. Elder Koch is coming to be our new Zone Leader and we are gonna have a trio in our district. Some pretty crazy changes.  Some pretty cool stats from this last change (6 weeks) As the zone of Linares we are the smallest zone in the mission with 12 missionaries. This last change we achieved 18 BAPTISMS as a zone. There was only one zone that had more and that was Mitras. They had 19. Our goal was the highest in the mission with 27. We are trying to start a movement in the mission to return to the success that we used to have. And we put the example. We are all pumped for this next change to work even more harder to achieve our goal....
