grey skies, bright future

Saludos a todos en casa! This last week we've had quite a few things going on. First crazy thing is the weather. The cold came early this year and this whole last week it's been grey skies and in the 40s. It is supposed to be like this all week this week as well. I heard a member say it was supposed to snow tomorrow, but I highly doubt it. I'm loving the cool weather though.

Me and Elder Ruiz are really happy here in our area as we have many people progressing. We will be having 2 baptisms this coming Sunday and 1 more the next week. On Sunday we had 5 investigators in church. This Saturday our ward is going to the temple and we are going to go with a few of our converts who are going for the first time. So we are super happy for everything going down in our area.

I wish I could say the same for the rest of the zone. We have several areas that are struggling right now to find new investigators and get them to church. We also had an Elder get sent home today and his companion got sent to another area. So for the last 3 weeks of the change we will be getting two new missionaries in the zone that will be entering that vacant area in white wash.

One of the first things that you realize when you're called to be a leader is that even if you are having success, you won't feel completely satisfied if there are some under your care that are struggling. Especially as a Zone Leader, you want to see everyone having success. You want to help everyone as best you can so that togther we rejoice in the success of the entire Zone and even the whole mission. Success isn't just baptizing. Success is personal progression, getting better a little bit every day, being diligent, being obedient, working towards bettering the lives of others and giving ourselves up in serving the Lord. "Con la mira puesta únicamente en la gloria de Dios." (D&C 4). No matter the numbers at the end of the week, if you can do all that, then you will have had success. The sad thing is sometimes you want to do everything possible to help the missionaries apply all this and even then 1 or 2 will choose to do otherwise. It hurts, but we can only teach good principles and encourage them. In the end they have to decide. Just a few little things I've learned while I've been out here.

Well we are almost in November and that is just rediculous. We'll see what winter brings. Hope all of you have a wonderful week!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
