Zone conference, Interviews, and BIKES!!

Hola familia y amigos! This last week we had a lot going on with our zone conference on Tuesday and Interviews with President Maucotel on Wednesday. The zone conference went really well and we got several rule changes in the mission now. Some pretty cool. Here are a few: Schedule change, now waking up at 6:30 and going to bed at 10:30. Leaving and returning to the house earlier. P days we have to use missionary clothing in public. We get an hour and a half writing home instead of an hour. No cameras while proselyting but we get them on P days. And a few other minor details regarding zone and district activities. All in all I am pretty ok with the changes that were made.  The next day we had interviews with President. They were short regular interviews and it was nice to get to now President and Sister Maucotel a little more personally. The greatest thing about interviews was that President brought me my bike! I'm back on bikes again baby! Wooooo! Hahaha I have missed bein...

Heat, confirmation, bikes

Hola toda mi familia y mis amigos!! This week was a great one. We got some awesome news from the mission President! I talked to him on Saturday and he gave us the go ahead to use bikes! Finallly! I am going to have my bike from the  offices when President comes to do interviews he'll bring it. We ended the week with the confirmation of Paola yesterday during church and it was super sweet. We have around 7 investigators right now in teaching and the majority are progressing well towards baptism.  Tomorrow we have our zone conference and we are going to be gettiour official new mission rules. The heat is rediculous now and we are getting close to the hottest part of the canicula and we are starting to feel it as the air and breeze feels like they are cooking you alive. Flame thrower is a good description. haha. Well not a ton of time today, but I mlove you all and hope you have a great week! Love  Elder Hoyt

Bautismos

We had a pretty great week this week. We worked hard and we got several new investigators that seem quite promising and the best of all we had a baptism yesterday! Our investigator that was baptized is so amazing! Her name is Paola. She and her boyfriend moved into the home of her boyfriends brother who is a member. Her boyfriend also is a member. We taught her the Plan of Salvation as the first lesson 3 weeks ago and when she found out that she could be with her family for eternity, she told us she wanted to be baptized in our church. She had to get married though since she and her boyfriend were living together. The amazing thing was, we set the baptismal date before we even knew that they weren't married, and when we found out and told her we were going to keep the planned date but that she had to get married in the time that was remaining, that very day her and her boyfriend set the day, the time, and called the judge and everything was set up and ready the next day when we ret...

INTERVIEWS & Metro Fights

Letter from July 9th What a busy week we had! We weren't in our area for a lot of time. Friday and Saturday both were spent completely in other areas. Tuesday I went to Sabinas Hidalgo on divisions to do a baptismal interview. Friday, me and Elder Catmull went to Sabinas again so I could do two more interviews. We left at 7 in the morning and the bus back didn't leave until 5:45 in the afternoon. On the bus ride back I got a call from the zone leaders saying that they needed me to go do another interview in the area of the other district leader because the other district leader had to go to a different area to do an interview and the zone leaders were going to be busy so they couldn't go. So me and Elder Catmull met up with D.L. Elder Cardenas and his companion, Elder Norman at the metro station to divide up. Me with Norman and Catmull with Cardenas.  While we were there in the metro about to split up, a big fight broke out in front of us between to guys and the gaurd...

Goodbye President McAurther

Buenas tardes damas y caballeros. Este Sábado pasado tuvimos que despedirnos de nuestro Presidente de misión. Presidente McArthur y su esposa regresaron a sus casas Sábado en la mañana y ayer llego nuestro nuevo presidente.  Our new mission president has arrived. Still haven't had the chance to meet him yet, but on the 10th we have changes so maybe something will be going down then. Our mission is now officially bigger, with two new stakes (Apodaca and Moderna) along with 50 new missionaries. 38 Elders and 12 Sisters. Tuesday next week we will know how the mission is going to be organized and we will have our changes.  The heat is pretty intense. The 14th of this month is the start of The Canicula. Super excited!!!..........no, not really. I hate the heat! Never going to get used to it. The good thing is that this is going to be my last one. Ready to get it over with. Something really weird that I just realized is that my 18 month mark is in 3 months. H...
