1st week new area!

Got here to the new area. I am going to be walking for my time here. The funny thing is that this is the smallest area I've ever been in. We can walk from one end of the area to the other in 20 minutes. (walking at normal speed) It is all super flat here as well. No hills. We share a ward with the zone leaders. (Elder Smith and Elder Vanwagenen). The house we are in is also the smallest I've been in, but it has everything we need, including hot water so I'm happy.

It is kind of funny that me and Elder Hendricks are in the same district still. It is a new record that we will only be seeing each other once a week now haha. The area might be small but we have a ton of great support from the members. There is actually a recent convert who has gotten us more than 3 references this last week and they all ended up being new investigators.

I'm excited to be here and get goin. Elder Rosales (my new companion) is pretty cool. He is from Chiapas here in Mexico. Also wears glasses. Funny kid and is super excited to start this change and we already have a baptism coming up this weekend. That's right we work that fast!! haha. Me and Elder Rosales have a goal for 6 baptisms this change and we are feeling pumped.

Not a ton to say. Sorry. Said goodbye to some of the missionaries I've come to know as they left for their homes this last week. Elder Crook who was in my very first district, Elder Fuentes, who was also in my first zone, and Hermana Castillo, who was in my district while I was in Mitras. Elder Fuentes and Hermana Castillo also recieved Christmas packages from my family and Hermana Castillo was sure to thank me and she wants my mom and the family to know that she was very gratefull to get the package.

I met Hogzilla the second day.

Love you alls!
Elder Hoyt

(No Pictures this week because his cord was not working on his camera.  I hope he figures it out because I need to see what Hogzilla is.  Elder Hoyt says it feels weird being back in a ward again  They have about 60 active members in the ward.  They don't bike in this area.  His new bike is being stored at the mission office, because his home is so small.  It is 30 minutes by taxi to the mission office, and he can see the big mountains of Monterrey pretty clearly.  Things are going smoothly with his new companion and he said that they will never go without food in this ward.  He said the heat feels worse here in the city because they don't have the breeze from biking.)

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
