Recordings and Pics

Spike the dog followed us all around the city one day. Thanks for the awesome birthday package! Saw a peacock near one of our investigators houses. Some of the recording files were too big. This last week was pretty great. We had interviews with the mission president on thursday. Got to give a blessing on friday. And Sunday we had almost 40 people at church so that was actaually really cool. The heat has been insane still. My knees are sore from all the biking. But I love it! I love you all.

Elder Hoyt - May 25th
"It's 10pm in Sabinas Hildago,Mexico, Today was a pretty good day.   We had to get up a little early today to catch a bus at 6:00am to get back to Monterrey for interviews.  While there we had some training, district meeting and we also organized a zone priesthood choir for a zone conference that we are having in a few weeks.  Once everyone found out that I could sing, they wanted me to do a solo in both of the songs that we are doing, and so I said, yeah I could do that.  So that's fun.  I also got the birthday package, so this is the first time using the recorder, so we will see how that works.  Tell Grandma and Grandpa Koch thanks for the birthday card.  It was really nice what they said.  Thanks for the Monkey card, it was hilarious.   The box was decorated pretty awesome,
I love the pictures.  Pictures are great.  We definitely will use the cake mix and the decorations and stuff.  It turns out that Elder Pena's birthday is June 16th.  We are going to have a big district party on one of our upcoming p'days.  Don't know what we are going to do yet, but we are going to do something, so that will be fun.  After we had the training and choir, we went to Carls Jr. for lunch.  After that we had to walk pretty fast to the altobus to get back to Sabinas which is our area.  It is a 2 hour drive from Monterrey to Sabinas Hildago.  We left at 4 and arrived at Sabinas at 6.  One of the Hermanas or sisters (ha ha) picked us up from the bus and fed us dinner.  We had some chicken and rice and some potato salad.  We ate and then got on our bikes and went to one area of the town to try and meet up with one of the investigators that we found last week.  Her name is Larena.  She ended up not being home so we just did some contacting in the area until 8:30.  We found a couple of people that were semi interested in what we had to say and said that we could come back another day, so we will see what happens there.  On our way back home (ha ha) this is funny, on our way back home we passed a little park and there was a lady sitting on the bench.  She said ( speaking Spanish here ) which means Come here, Come here, Brother's Come here.  We were tired and wanted to go home but we were like, ok let's go over and see what she wants.  She looked like she had been doing drugs or something, she was a little off.  So we went over there and Elder Pena asked her if she had met with the missionaries before.  She said, "No ( more Spanish here )" ha ha.  It means White Boy.  She said no, but I like the white boy.   She looked at me and smiled and I was like 'Oh no!  She wanted Elder Pena and I to come over cause she liked me and wanted to talk to me.  So Elder Pena said, "Oh so you like the "white boy" huh?"  He said We need to go home cause it's late but we will meet with you another time, how about that?  She said ok, but as we were leaving she said, good bye, white boy.  (in Spanish of course)  It was so so weird.  Elder Pena was laughing the whole bike ride home, so that was pretty funny.  We got back here around 9 and now we are just getting ready for bed, so good day here in the Mish.  I miss everyone and love you all.  Have a good night, or good day when ever you are hearing this.  Love ya, Bye

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
