1 month down, 23 to go

Hola everyone! Today marks one month of my mission completed. It's a little crazy how fast the time has gone by for me. Supposedly it goes even faster when we get out in the field. Only a week and a half until me, Elder Powers, and Elder Johansen leave for Monterrey. I'm excited to get out there and start finding people to teach!

The MTC has been amazing! I love our teachers, I love the food, and I love my district. The director of the MTC Elder Castaneda comes into our classroom every day and has us recite the scriptures that he gave us to memorize the day before and then gives us new scriptures to memorize. He is an area 70 too. Our teachers and the MTC President (President Bennet) say that we are the only district he has ever done that with and he says we're his favorite. It's super awesome!

Spanish gets easier and easier as the days go by. I had to give a talk last Sunday completely in Spanish so that was cool. I bore my testimony at the end without having to read anything from notes and I spoke my best Spanish when I was just speaking from the heart.

The spirit here is strong and can be felt everywhere. We had an awesome experience during TRC this week! We got to teach this Man named Isaac and his 12 year old son who's name was also Isaac. Our lesson was about how we can better receive revelation through the Book of Mormon and it went really well. Little Isaac said he couldn't wait to get on his Mission.

We got to go to the temple today again which was great! It's super cool doing an endowment session in Spanish. We didn't get much of a P day though. We got back around 3 and P day ends at 5. Oh I am singing Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing in Spanish  next week on Tuesday during our devotional with the entire MTC. I'm pretty excited about it! Love you all! Keep on keeping on!

Love
Elder Hoyt

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
