new missionaries and new mattresses

Hola ! Como andan alli en casa? We have had a pretty eventful week here in the San Nicolas zone with the beginning of a new change. But our excitement and our drive to work hard as a zone is continuing. We're set up to finish off the year strong.

We had an area in the zone called Zua Zua that had Elders in it.  The 2 Elders that were there in the area got changed to other areas and we have  sister missionaries moving in to that area. One of the sisters is going to be training a Brazilian sister and they won't actually get to the area until tomorrow because those who come from Brazil are always a week late in getting to the mission. This last week though, me and my companion Elder Joachin had to go back and forth to that area to get the house ready for the sisters. That included finding 2 extra mattresses in the zone and then taking them to the to the house in Zua Zua. It's like a 45 minute drive from our area. Yesterday we finished all of our preparations and the house is now ready for the sisters. (we gave the sisters our heater and several extra blankets as well)

In the zone we have 8 new missionaries and 6 that were here this last change.

Me and Elder Joachin are getting along really great. It's cool that I was companions with his cousin Elder Vega. We are already having a bunch of success in finding new people. Yesterday we got over 15 references from members at church! Our new focus on working with the members is working!

Well I hope everyone is doing well back home and that you are all keeping warm! Have an amazing week! I love you all!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
