lots of stuff going down

This last week was really eventful for us. Lots of stuff happened that we weren't expecting. Some of it was really good and others not as much.

So we had a baptism date scheduled for the 17th of this month for an investigator who has been preparing for quite some time now. She is 68 years old and her name is Eva. We were giving her a little time because this weekend she wouldn't have been able to because of a conferencethat is special for all of Mexico that we will have on Sunday instead of regular meetings. We got a call on Friday in the afternoon from our bishop who had spoken with Eva and she said that she wanted to be baptized the next day on the 3rd instead of wait. So we had to hurry and ask permission from President to do a baptism interview the day of the baptism and he gave us the go ahead, then call our only DL in the zone to schedule the interview for Saturday morning. Luckily he was free and everything fell into place really well. The baptism was scheduled for 5:30 that afternoon and our mission leader went and got the font prepared while we had to hurry to another part of the area to get a few things taken care of that we had. When we got to the chappel at 5:00 we helped clean up a little and get ready and we had the baptism at 5:30. There were only 7 of us there but it was one of the most spiritually filled baptisms I've had in the mission.

So that was a surprise good thing that happened. We had another surprise crazy thing happen that same Friday. We got a call from one of Elders telling us that his companion and 36 other missionaries and their companions were being sent to the offices Saturday morning to be interviewed by President Rafael Pino of the 70. You can find his picture in the liahona or ensign of the conferences in the general authority picture. President Pino is in the area presidency of Mexico and the missionary department sent him to interview all these Elders for disobedience issues. They sent him to verify if these Elders still wanted to stay out on the mission and if they had changed their behvior and then afterwards make a decision on who gets sent home. Because of all these insidences the entire mission is having a special conference with President Pino on Thursday and Friday. We'll see what happens.

And this is our last week of this change. On the 13th we have changes. This week as well we have a ton of stuff going on. Tomorrow me and my companion are going to the area of the Asistants to do divisions with them, Thursday is the conference with Preident Pino, Saturday we have the leadership council for all the Zone Leaders, and Sunday the special conference for all of Mexico. On top of all that we will be opening new areas and we are sending suggestions to President on how to reorganize the districts and where we can put Sisters and new Elders. What a crazy time to be a Zone Leader.

It's a lot going on but I'm enjoying it. I'm not worried nor is my companion because we are working really hard and being obedient. We worry about the zone and their progress but we are confident that everything will end up ok. I love all you guys back home! Family and friends! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
