Big Week

Hola! wow what a week we had. For me and Elder Ruiz this last week went by really fast. Tuesday we went to the area of the Asistants and did divisions with them in their area for the whole day, Thursday  was our conference with Elder Pino of the 70, Saturday we had our leadership council for all the zone leaders and Elder Pino as well, yesterday we had the special conference broadcast from Salt Lake for all of Mexico with Elder Rasband, and today we got our news about these next changes. We've been all over the place.

The conference with Elder Pino went really well for all those missionaries who are obedient and working diligently. We talked a lot about our missionary purpose and how there are still some Elders who don't get it. I learnedf a lot there and felt at peace knowing that I was giving it my all.

The leadership council with Elder Pino was equally edifying. We had a really amazing experience as we all sat in council with a 70 to discuss the needs of our mission.Everyone participated and could feel the flow of revelation and inspiration during the entire time. We have decided as a mission that our primary source of success is working with the members. Me and Elder Ruiz were able to share all the experiences we have been having while we have worked with the members and seen the effect that it has had on the work. When we were finishing, Elder Pino told us that it was probably the best council he's been a part of with missionaries and he told us that his expectations for the mission were really high.

We are having changes!!!!! I am going to be staying here in San Nicolas and Elder Ruiz is going to the zone, Apodaca with Elder Cudney. Elder Joachin is going to come here and be my new companion and will be his first time as Zone Leader. He is actually the cousin of my old companion Elder Vega and I have talked with him before and he is a really cool guy so I'm excited. I'm going to miss Elder Ruiz though. He has been one of my very best companions. In our 2 changes together we were able to have 6 converts enter the waters of baptism and several of those we have seen enter the temple for the first time to do baptisms.  I'm very pleased with the work we've done together and the people we've been able to help.

Well tomorrow we actually get the changes done and we hope to keep San Nicolas going strong! We are going to have a lot of new missionaries in the zone which will be exciting and I'm going to do my best to help eveyone feel welcome and that this is a zone of diligence, obedience, and success. And Love! We are all united in our efforts here and I intend to keep it that way. I love you guys back home and hope that you all have an amazing week!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
