What a week!

Hola a todos! This week we had plenty of stuff happen. Some of it wasn't the best and other stuff was awesome while at the same time very surprising. Everyone ready? Here we go!

Experiencia numero 1: We begin our tale on Monday of last week. As we were endeing our day we visited a less active family on our way back to the house. The family had weights for exercise that they weren't using so they let us take them so we could use them at the house. They gave us 50 pounds of weights and 2 bars. All the weights are ones that you put on the bars so they can all stack nicely into a back pack so they lent us an old one that they had and we put all 50 pounds of weights in it. We had bikes but we weren't going to be able to ride all the way back to the house but we were'nt that far so we were going to walk. As I was carrying the back pack of weights outside and was lifting it up to rest it on my bike seat, the strap on the back pack broke and all 50 pounds of weights from 4 feet high fell onto my left big toe. Yes, it hurt. When we got back to the house and checked the toe, my toenail was almost completely off and was bleeding a bit. Luckily I did not break my toe, but the nail did fall completely off the next day and so This last week I have been in sandals. So that has been fun.

Experencia numero 2: This one is a bit happier. While me and my companion were contacting on Saturday (riding bikes as I am not supposed to walk with my toe condition) we saw a man and 2 little girls who were struggling to set up a trampoline in front of their house. We stopped in front of them and offered our help but the Man politely declined. As we were riding away one of the girls yelled to us to return and please help her dad. We returned and after an hour we had the trampoline together and working. There along with the man, who's name is Oscar, were his 2 daughters, Carla of 9 years and Michele of 11, his son David of 4 years, and his wife Juani. As we got to know the family they told us how they were friends with several members of the ward and were interested in coming to church in a couple weeks when they were a little more free on time. So that was a really cool family that we found thanks to a little act of service. Wooo!

Experiencia numero 3: Ok so this one is actually multiple experieces that all happened on Sunday. Earlier in the week we were asked to prepare talks andf be part of a little choir as the theme for this Sunday would be missionary work. We get to church and when we got to the talks our mission leader's assistant took forever to bear his testimony and we had a sister who just recieved her call speak who will be leaving in September for Argentina. Me and Elder Catmull were left with little time which I was definitely ok with. Catmull spoke and then we had the musical number. I got a lot of weird looks from people in the congregation since I was in a suit and wearing sandals with a bandaged toe haha. After the musical number I finished the meeting with my talk and everything went really well. Sunday we also recieved our news of the CHANGES!!!!!! They were pretty crazy this time. Drum roll..................I am leaving the area. I am going as a ZONE LEADER to San Nicolas! hahaha I am replacing Elder Clegg as the Zone leader in this same zone and going with his companion Elder Ruiz, who ends his mission the same day I do. Elder Catmull after 6 months in this area is staying another change and will be recieving an Elder Santos, who will be the new district leader. I'm pretty excited and really surprised haha. We were all expecting Catmull to go. San Nicolas will be the zone that I will have spent the most time in while here in the mission. This is my third area in this zone alone. The zone leaders area is literally right next to ours so I'm not going very far. Still get to use the bike there as well so that will be nice.

Well That about covers it. All in all a pretty eventfull and exciting week. I love you all! And wish you a wonderfull week!

Elder Hoyt

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
