Week 1 and done

Well here we are at the beginning of week 2 of this change. Week 1 as a Zone Leader was plenty eventfull and week 2 lookd to be the same. My new companion ( Elder Ruiz) is from Panama. We have gotten along really well. With the new Z.L. asignment came a change of responsabilities and different challenges. I no longer have to prepare trainings every week as I did when I was a D.L. But now we deal with all the information of the zone. We spend a lot of time evaluating the information we recieve to see where we are struggling as a zone and so we can try and help the District Leaders since they are the ones who have direct contact with all the rest of the missionaries. If the D.L.s are doing a good job then the rest of the district is strengthened and in turn, the whole zone.

Being the Z.L.s, me and my companion work with the stake president as well as the stake mission leader to view the needs of the different wards and where we need help. Also, being in the center of the Zone and very close to the stake center, the members are always calling to ask us to direct various activities and trainings. This Sunday for exanple, not only did I speak in sacrament meeting again, but also took part in teaching recent converts of the stake in a large "Missionary Workshop" that the stake held for future missionariesn recent converts, and regular members.

Saturday we had 2 baptisms in the zone as well. For the one we had to go and interview the investigator and the other one was ours. Our baptism was a miracle. Our  converts name is Francisco. Got a call from a ward mission leader in another stake and told us they had an investigator that had been recieving the lessons and attending church in their ward when in reality he lived in our area. So he decided to gety baptized here because that is where he corisponded. We taught a few more things, got him interviewed, and was baptized on Saturday. He is probably one of the converts with the strongest testimony and the most faith I have seen in the mission

We are all preparing for the visit of Elder Bednar this Saturday. We all have to be at the temple before 8:00 AM for the conference and we will be there with him for 3 hours. Excited for that!

I love all of you back home! Hope you have a wonderfull week!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
