June 11 - The District 3

These last 2 weeks have been pretty crazy. Lot's of stuff happening in the zone and in my district. We started off with 6 other missionaries in the district, not including me and my companion. Day 2 of this change Elder Medina who was in Sabinas with Elder Castillo got moved to a new area because he ended up with gal bladder problems and had to be close to the hospital. We also had Elder Peña (my trainee) and Elder Sandrigo in the district for a week. Did divisions with them and then this week got moved into the other district because 2 Elders in the other district were moved to another area because of the changes in the ward boundry lines. 2 days later Elder Medina was sent home so he could have surgery. So Elder Sandrigo went with Medinas old companion leaving Peña in the area. So the 2 Elders that were sent to another area were told to return and now are in a trio with Elder Peña. Elder Medina was replaced in Sabinas by Elder Galdamez who was with us in the Linares zone a few months back.  So now after all the moving around, companion changes, area boundry changes, and sick Elders, we are left with the Sisters in Nicolas Bravo and the Elders in Sabinas Hidalgo that consist of the missionaries in our district. SO MANY PHONE CALLS!

Other than that crazieness things have been fairly normal. We had our Zone conference on Tuesday in the mission offices. Wasn't really a normal one. Basically it was our big goodbye party for President McArthur and his wife. That was fun. Did a little relay mixed with teaching lessons and then President did a grill party. Burgers and Hot dogs. Friday was our training meeting for the District Leaders. I learned a lot there on how to be a good leader.

It's getting a lot hotter now. I think there were a few days this week when we were at about 105 to 110 degrees. We are just "warming up" for the canicula that starts next month.

I love you all! Have a great week!

Elder Hoyt

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
