Snow, Cambios, and Explosions

This week was pretty insane!!! First off we had an extreme temperature change. We went from being in the high 70s to below freezing in three days. On friday we also woke up to a little Christmas surprise that almost never occurs down here in Monterrey. We got SNOW!!!! We woke up and it was snowing on Friday morning. It was sticking to the ground and everything! Of course it only lasted a couple hours and we got pictures. It was sunshine and dry before 3 the same day haha. Still it has been cold for the rest of the week.

We got the changes yesterday! And I am going to be TRAINING!!!!!!!! Wooooooo!! I'm super excited and nervous for this opportunity. Elder Knighton is going to be zone leader in a new zone and Elder Hendricks' new companion is going to be our new district leader. It was crazy because right after the assistants called to tell us the changes, the Tigres soccer team won the championship game against the Rayados and the streets became flooded with trucks and cars honking horns and waving banners out the windows as they were driving, along with people shooting off fireworks and explosives of all kinds. The assistants actually called again shortly nafter and told us we had to get back to our houses as fast as possible because it was too dangerous to be out there. So that was crazy.

We are all leaving today at 6:40 to go to the offices and stay the night at the mission home. I'm going to be here in Allende for at least another 3 months for sure. Wish me luck!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
