Demons Out!!!!!

So this week was pretty crazy with the unexpected getting moved to a new area thing. I got moved to a place called Allende. Little city down on the southern end of the mission. The area is super pretty. Mountains, hills, tons of palm trees and other big trees, rivers. It is a pretty rich city. Lots of big houses. We get bikes. I actually had to buy a bike because Elder Knightons last companion broke their other one really bad.

The branch is really small. We don't have a chappel it is a house of prayer. The church is really young here in Allende. They just formed the branch here two years ago. It is kinda cool to be a part of the building of the church here. We have already found tons of cool people to teach and we have a baptism coming up on the 12th. We almost had more investigators than members at church.

Sunday night we were visiting one of our new investigators and had an interesting experiance with him. So he believes in "La Santa Muerte" which means "The Holy Death" He told us about how she is supposed to bring good fortune and help. Her figure is a reaper holding measuring scales in one hand and a globe and scyth in the other. That was a bit creepy. He is in the process of painting her on his wall and it is a bit freaky. He ended up sharing with us his life story and telling us about how he has had problems with voices in his head, waking up at night feeling like he was burning and his veins being swollen and black, seeing people in reflections that aren't there and that sort of stuff. He told us he has gone to hundreds of churches to recieve blessings, get baptised and other things. He told us he turned to "La Santa Muerte" because he is desperate and doesn't know what to do. We taught about the gospel and the scriptures and he said our church is literally his final hope and he has nothing to lose so he is gonna give it a try. It was an interesting lesson for sure. I wanted to wack him on the head and yell "Demons Out!!" Me and Elder Knighton were joking about how they need to put a how to cast out demons ordinance in the back of the handbook hehe.

Loving the new area and the new comp. Everything is going great down here!
Love you all!

Elder Hoyt

Dallin says Allende is Beautiful.  Mountains, hills, rivers, huge trees, and really green.  He splits the city with two other missionaries and the four of them make up their district.  Guess who one of the Elders is?   Elder Levi Hendricks from good old Brigham City.  They are buddies from High School.  They share the only branch in the city so they have all their meals together, and are together on Pday and Sundays.  They actually taught Primary last week together....  So Cool for the both of them!

Me and Elder Vega first ones at the changes.

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
