Bautismo y Servicio

Hola mi familia y mis amigos!!!

This last week was pretty great. On Thursday we had our zone conference which lasted literally all day. They work a little differently here in Linares since we are the farthest away. We not only have our zone conference but also our zone interviews with President McArthur so it takes almost double the time. We didn't get back to our area until 6:30 about.

Friday we did divisions with the zone leaders which was really cool. While me and Elder Aguilar (zone leader) were riding to an appointment we saw an older guy out in front of his house chopping some wood so we asked him if he could use some help and he said yes please. So we took half an hour and chopped wood in our church clothes haha. It was super cool and he offered us tomales.

Sunday we had our baptism of Paty. We had to go to the zone leaders area because we don't have a baptismal font since we are in just a house. After sacrament meeting we all piled into the back of one our members truck and drove down to Montemorelos which is about a half hour drive. We had almost the whole branch with us. Paty and her two kids along with two other members were inside the truck and us 4 missionaries, the branch President and one other member were in the truck bed riding down. That was fun haha.

We got some pretty great pictures of Allende today and went on a little adventure hiking up and over the look out hill and onto the oher half of the area trying to find the court house to ask permission to use one of the plazas just to have the place be closed because today they also had the parade for the revolution of Mexico.

Everything is going great! Love you guys!!! Talk to ya next week.

Our Church in Allende, It is called the House of Prayer.  Our little branch of about 20 members come here every Sunday.  It is bigger than it looks, but if we get more members active, we will need a chapel soon.  They have called me as the music director and also call me up to do surprise solos when they found out that I like to sing.    Elder Hendricks and I are the only ones who can carry a tune so I get to teach the members how to sing the hymns.

Going 60 down the freeway with The Branch President, another member, and us 4 missionaries riding in the back of a truck.  Only way we could get to Montemorelos for Paty's baptism.  It's about a 30 min drive..

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
