Puro Obediencia

Hey everyone! This week has been pretty eventfull. First off we got a ton of rain this last week. Every day was cloudy and rainy. We worked our butts off too. On Thursday we did a little activity as a district called the Pulga de Salvacion. Basically we got a table and a ton of pamphlets, cards, and Books of Mormon and set up in a market to contact. We had it set up for 5 minutes and it started to rain on us. So we packed up all the books and pamphlets so they wouldnt get wet, grabbed a bunch of handout cards, and went to work handing out cards and contacting. Even in the pouring rain. The poor sisters in our district didn-t have Jackets or umbrellas so I let them use mine and we continued on. Our Zone Leaders had told us that if it rained it might be better to cancel the activity, but we worked anyway and ended up with 12 new investigators in different areas so everyone got news.  In total me and Elder Vega ended our week with 14 new investigators. The two investigatorsn with baptismal dates set for next week also came to General Conferance and they loved it. We gonna have ourselves some Baptisms!! YAY!!!

Today we had our Zone Activity. We did LARPING hahaha! The zone leaders wanted everyone to come dressed up as a lamanite or a nephite. The stake already had a ton of Larping weapons that were previously made so we just needed to figure out our get ups. I decided to go as Captain Moroni and made a pretty sweet helmet out of cardboard boxes from the house, a shield out of a lid from a big blue water tank, and the standard of Liberty using a piece of old bed sheet and a broom stick. It turned out super fun! We played capture the flag and then just straight fight to the death.

Conferance was great. It was all in Spanish but I understood all of it. Sad to hear about Elder Hales, but I think it was getting to be his time. I loved how Elder Anderson read part of his message. A lot of the messages centered around trusting in the voice of the Prophet, and in the Lords Atonement.

I love you all!
Talk to ya next week.

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
