Cooler

Sept 6th -

Dallin's PDay was moved this week so they could go to the Temple.    Here is a quick email he sent
Wednesday evening.

Hey Mom. These last two days were rediculous. Long Story Short We are in Monterrey still and we don't have any more than half an hour to write. I'm not gonna have a ton of time to tell you about the whole week so I'll just tell you about the last two days. Tuesday night we stayed at our district leaders house. So we needed to get from Sabinas to Monterrey. The last bus out of Sabinas left at 4:30. We had time to eat lunch with a member and visit an investigator. Lunch was at 2 and we got to our investigators house at 3. He ended up having a ton of questions and we missed our bus by 3 minutes. We sprinted 5 blocks trying to catch it.  It has also been raining since Monday. I got to use my jacket! That water proof jacket is awesome, Thank You Mom!!! So we were without a way to Monterrey. Luckily we knew this Uber driver who we called up and was actually willing to come to Sabinas to get us and take us back to Monterrey. We ended up paying 800 pesos for the trip. I payed half and Elder Quilter payed half. "Uber" is like a taxi driver. (So funny that he didn't know that I know what an Uber is!  Like Uber is only in Mexico!  Ha Ha)  We also had our district activity today after the temple.

We had to wake up at 5 in the morning to get to the temple on time. After the temple the district went to a cool place called Rubios to eat and then went to the giant park in the middle of the city like central park in New York. You can rent bikes to ride around on, there is an abandoned factory that they turned into a ride and cafe, a big river that you can take ferry rides down, and a bunch of other cool stuff to do. We ended up biking around the place for a bit and then going to the in door ice skating rink that was also there in the park. One of the sisters didn't know how to ride a bike so we taught her how in about 30 minutes. We had to get back here to the bus station by 8 because our bus back to Sabinas leaves at 8:30. Right now we are at an internet cafe close by just emailing real fast because by the time we get back to Sabinas everywhere will be closed.

.I don't have any of my adapter with me so I'll send you all the picks on Monday too. I love you! Talk to ya Monday!

Sept 11 -

Hola a todos!! This last week was kind of crazy. lots of stuff happening in the world and here in the mission. We got some pretty crazy rain this last week because of those hurricanes. Other than getting really wet we weren't really affected that much.  We got to go to the temple on Wednesday, explore the "Central Park" of Monterrey, and go ice skating. Today we did a bit of hiking. The work progresses. Our investigator Jesús who had a baptismal date still doesn't come to church. He's a tough one to get to act. Our branch has reactivated a bit and is more lively it seems. Two of the inactive families that we have been visiting have ome to church these last two weeks in a row. We gave out a few Books of Mormon to several new investigators with great potential to progress. All in all everything is good here. The end of the change is this week so we'll see what happens there as well.

I love you all!
Elder Hoyt

P.S. There were spiny bushes, cactus, trees, and all sorts of other plants out there on the hike that looked like they wanted to kill you. I'm still picking little spikes out of my arms and legs.

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
