Cambios!!!

Hey everyone! So this week we have just pretty much getting ready for our changes that were coming up. We found out yesterday what was going to happen. I'm staying here in Sabinas! Elder Peña is going to Nuevo Loredo. He was a bit sad to be leaving and having to pack up everything and go to a new area just for 5 weeks and then return home. Elder Peña received the call from our district leader who told us the changes. Elder Peña couldn't say the name of my new companion very well so I don't really know his name yet. But he is American I'm pretty sure. We are leaving for Monterrey at 4:00 today and tomorrow we have to be at the mission offices at around 8:00 AM to get our companions and return to our areas. I'm gonna miss Elder Peña. He's been awesome.

This last Saturday we got to do some service for the Branch President. We got to his house and started at around 7 in the morning and we didn't get done until around 1. It was kind of 2 different projects in one. First we helped him clear a ton of branch piles and dirt from his little piece of land he had next door to his house. We loaded it all up into the back of his truck and took it to the dump. The second part was pretty cool. He had bought an old 1965 Chevy 10 truck earlier in the week and we helped him start cleaning it up and removing some of the parts so he could get it fixed up. All original parts too. Super cool. After the first half of the service the Branch Pres. fed us breakfast. We ate Carnitas. It is basically bits of meat with tortillas and salsa. It was super good! After my 3rd tortilla the president asked me if I knew what I was eating. I said no but it was delicious. He told me the little bits of meat were pieces of cheek, , ear, and tongue from a pig. So that was my little surprise for the day haha. But hey, it was some good stuff.

I love you all! Talk to ya next week.

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
