Return to the CCM

This last week was pretty cool! We had our "Return to the CCM" activity on Friday at the mission offices back in Monterrey. We had to wake up at 3 in the morning to get there on time. The activity was basically trainings and practices. It was for all the Elders that came to the mission at the same time I did and who were finishing up their first change. So I got to see Elder Powers and Elder Johansen again! District 11A reunited! I also got to see Elder Anderson! He went to high school with me. It was super nice to talk to someone from home. The acivity only lasted for half the day and then we had to go back to Sabinas yet again. By the time we got back it was already 6:00. Our whole day had pretty much been spent. So we had time to visit a couple investigators with the Mission leader and then go home.

Our investigator, Guadelupe, hasn't come to church and has pretty much stopped progressing. So that has been a bit sad. She won't be getting baptized any time soon. But one of our new investigators, Panchis, has come to church 2 weeks in a row now. She accepted the date July 9th for her Baptism. She is super cool and really likes coming to church. I'm super excited for her. We also have another two investigators, Antonio and Karla, who are really kind and have shown great interest. They haven't come to church yet, but I think they will next week.

The heat is rediculous. The Canicula will start in a couple weeks. It is a pretty constant 47 degrees celcius here in Sabinas. Don't know how hot that is in Ferinheit. But it is above 110 I think. That is every day almost. I started the mission weighing 240 pounds. I didn't lose any of that in the MTC. During this first month and a half in the field I have lost 24 pounds and I now weigh 216. My goal is to get back into the 100s by the end of this next change.

I love the work and the people of Mexico. I love you guys.

Elder Hoyt.

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
