Canicula

Hey everyone!

There isn´t really a ton to talk about this week.  The Canicula has officially started and this year is supposed to be a bad one. (It cooled off to 115 this last week with the rain, but next week we are supposed to be back up to over 120)  We´re starting to drink even more water and take extra precautions with sunscreen.

I end my training in a little under 3 weeks which is exciting! I´m also a little nervous to see where I´ll be going and whether or not I´ll be a trainer.

Today for P-day  we went bowling and a member took our district to a buffet, so that was fun.

We found a new family to teach on Thursday. We had our first lesson with the Mom on Saturday. We taught her about the plan of salvation because one of daughters had died several years ago. She had never heard of the 3 kingdoms of glory and she loved the message and agreed to be baptized. Lesson 1!  But she isn´t married to the man she is living with so she can´t be baptized until that's fixed. But her children can be so we are gonna start working hard with them as well.

We only had 7 people show up on Sunday.  That was interesting. Me and Elder Peña both gave talks and I taught the combined Sunday School class. So that was fun.

Bike problems:  There are a lot of places on the roads that have dirt and little bits of gravel. I went to take a turn and the rear tire lost traction and slid until it hit pavement again and it slid so fast that when it hit the pavement again it bent the frame.  We just bought a new frame and it was an easy fix.

Hair Cuts:   I asked Dallin if this was how he got his hair cut and he said that there is a member in Sabinas who owns a hair salon, and they cut the missionaries hair for free.  No Stake Center Salon for him.

Love you guys!

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
