White Water Biking

Hey Sorry I don´t have any recordings this week. There was a lot going on. We really only had three days of work this week because we had a district meeting on Tuesday that we had to go back to Monterrey for and didn't get back until late so we didn't get to do much on Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were our work days. We found a few new investigators.

I have a pretty cool experience to share. It happened while we were out contacting. We knocked on one door and this lady answered. We told her we were missionaries and she said she was a devout Catholic and didn´t want to hear our message. We asked her if there was anything that we could help her with because we do service as well. She said no but there is an older woman that lives across the street that can´t do a lot and could use our help. So we went over to her house. The door was open so we called in and we heard her say to come in. She was sitting on her bed in the front room. We explained that we were missionaries but she, like the first lady din´t want to hear our message. So we told her that we weren't here to give a message. We heard that you could use some help around the house so we are here to serve you. She gladly accepted. She had us wash her dishes. There was an entire shelf full of them She didn´t have running water so we took two big pales and filled them up outside at one of the neighbors homes. While we were washing dishes she opened up and we were able to talk to her about the church. We taught her a brief message about the plan of salvation and finished helping with the dishes. She was very grateful for our help and as we left she said we could come back. So that was awesome to see how serving others can have such a great effect on their hearts.

One of our other Investigators (Guadelupe) accepted a date to be baptized!!! YAY!!!

Friday was fun. We woke up to the storm of all storms. Lightning every 5 seconds, thunder that shook the house, and a wall of water that was the rain. We had to bike and work in it. There was close to a foot of water on the roads and it was all running down. It was literally like riding a bike up a river af moving water. So that was fun. It was better than the heat.

Saturday and Sunday were stake conference which we had to go back to Monterrey for. I sang two solos in the missionary choir. We stayed down there for the first half of today as well for our zone activity. We had a soccer tournament and then I cooked hamburgers for everyone. This was our birthday party as a zone because next week we are going to the temple.

I love you all! Hope everything is well.

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ 1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
