Bike Wrecks and Blessing

Wednesday, June 14th

Hey everyone!  Short email today.  Sorry.  I have recordings too. I just want to share one experience that happened on my birthday.  It was a regular day because p day got changed.  At the end of the day we got a call from a sister in the branch.  She said she wanted a blessing.  We rode over there and Elder Peña told me that I would be giving the blessing.  I was so nervous because it was the first blessing I had ever given in Spanish. But once I started to speak, the spirit took over and the words that I needed to say came to my mind.  During the blessing it felt like there was electricity pulsing through my arms.  There is a real power with the priesthood, and I am so glad that I was worthy to have that power.

Love you
Elder Hoyt

Recording:
"Hey mom, Today is Tuesday, June 13th 2017,  Today was a good day, a little crazy.  We had to get up a little early cause we are going to the temple tomorrow so we had to go to Monterrey today.  Our bus ticket was for 5:00 in the afternoon, so we didn't have much time to do a lot during the day, but we found 3 new investigators in 2 hours.  After finding the investigators, we went and got food, (background: companion saying, "Hoyt, Hoyt, Hoyt")  On the way to get food, I crashed on my bike, so that was fun. (background:  companion laughing, in broken English saying "He crash very hard" )    Yes, I crashed really hard.  And my white shirt was really dirty.  After eating we had to hurry back to the house and hurry and grab our things and head to the bus stop. (background:  companion in Spanish " Hoyt, come eat some beans" )  Beans, yay!  When we got to Monterrey, we went to the zone leaders house and then went and taught a few lessons, came back to the house, played a few games of uno and tomorrow we get to go to the temple. so yeah, good day.  See ya."

Jan 7 - Bad Toes

Jan. 7 well this last week was pretty eventful. Wednesday I had to go to the hospital to get both of my toes taken care of because I had ingrown toenails on both feet. Since it was both feet I've been unable to do anything for almost the whole week. Today I am going back to get the stitches out so I can get back to working. It isn't even cold down here. Well hope everyone has a really good week.  Elder Hoyt

Training

Hey everyone so I just finished my first week as a trainer. My new companion is Elder Peña from the Dominican Republic. He is 25 years old and is a convert of 2 and a half years. I almost feel like I am the one being trained here haha. He has so much gospel knowledge and has absolutely no problem with wanting to talk to people. He is also exactly obedient along with me. We have a baptism for the 31st coming up and we are finding more people to teach. I have a good feeling about the success we are going to have this change.  I am also excited for my Christmas call coming up on Monday next week!! I get to see my family! Tomorrow is our mission talent show/ christmas dinner and I'll be singing let it go haha.  I love you all! Talk to you next week New Trainers And your new trainee is........ Elder Pena from the Dominican Republic Trainers and Trainees posing with the Pres.

1 year mark!!!

Hey everyone! So this last week I hit my 1 year mark on the 4th! It is so weird. I don't feel like I have been out here for a year already. I have learned so much and for this last half I am going to apply what I have learned to bring out my full missionary potential!  This week we are going to be having a baptism on Saturday. And then we are going to be having changes next Tuesday so we'll see what happens there as well. I have been here in Allende for a while so there is a chance that I get changed. We are all pretty sure that Elder Hendricks is gonna be going too.  We had a cool opportunity to do some service on Saturday. We helped a guy cut some weeds and clean up his yard too. His neighbor thought we were crazy for coming here to Mexico for two years to help people, but was impressed as well.  Anyway, Love you all! Have a great week!
