Hola everyone! this week has been fun. i was kinda bummed we didnt get our P day yesterday, we had it moved to today because we had to go and get our green cards finalized in the middle of Mexico city. We had an hour drive just to get there so we could wait half an hour in line so we could do 30 seconds of paper work and then drive for another hour back. so that was a long first part of the day. We got back just in time for lunch which was good because by the end of that trip we were all starving. I've decided that I would never want to live in Mexico. The traffic is literally insane! There are no lines on the road, the speed limit does not seem to matter, I think I´ve only seen one stop light, and there are way too many people. I am pretty impressed with how well they are able to stack their little cement houses all the way up the mountain side when they´ve run out of room.
The MTC has been great! I´m growing to love this place even more. Spanish is second nature and me and Elder Ballard are always being complimented on how good we can speak it. I have started thinking in spanish now and sometimes when I am trying to speak english I switch to spanish half way through a sentance or I will forget how to say a word in English. Our Investigator lessons have become better every time we teach. I know now that if you genuinely love those people whom you are teaching and listen to them with spiritual ears, then the Holy Ghost will bring words to your memory and you will be able to tell them what the Lord needs them to hear. At the end of our last lesson we got told that it was the best one that he´s ever heard at the MTC. I felt very happy and that I couldn´t wait to get out into the field.
Me and my companion have a pretty sweet thing going with the MTC Director. We go to him every day and he gives us a new scripture to memorize. Every time we go to him we recite the last scripture he gave us and he gives us a new one. Our teacher says we are very lucky because no one ever gets that kind of attention. We had the Director of all MTCs in the world come along with the head of the Missionary department and the asociate director of MTCs. Me and Elder Ballard got invited to participate in a focus group with them and the MTC presidency. We got asked questions about what we liked about the MTC and what we would change. It was super cool!
I also get to audition to sing Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing in Spanish in one of the devotionals next week. So that´s exciting! Anyway I love you all! I´ll talk to ya next week.
Love
Elder Hoyt
